ABSTRACT
Scott Weidermeyer, a straight-up caricature of stereotypical players of games such as Dungeons and Dragons, escapes the troubles of his dead-end job and loveless existence every Thursday night by serving as Grand Master of a fantasy board game he created and plays with his friends. When he meets a well-spoken hipster by the name of Miles at the game shop in the process of trying to land a new "initiate" for his club one day, however, he finds himself embroiled in a comically-irrelevant struggle in his own little world, trying in vain to maintain his hold on power as various setbacks in his life shift the spotlight over to Miles.
