Nazi "Protector" Reinhard Heydrich is assassinated in occupied Czechoslovakia; the assassin flees and is pursued by the Germans, escaping with the help of a university professor's daughter. He shelters at their home, but after the professor is arrested and executions of townspeople begin, her loyalties divide between saving her father and the resistance to the occupation.
