Nick Carter, Master Detective (13-Dec-1939)
Director: Jacques Tourneur Writers: Bertram Millhauser; Harold Buckley Musical Score: Edward Ward Producer: Lucien Hubbard Keywords: Mystery Detective Nick Carter investigates an interwar plot to steal blueprints from the Radex Airplane Factory, perpetrated by spies based in an unspecified country where they speak with German accents. Donald Meek as "the bee man" provides levity in this fast-paced detective story. The Nick Carter character was massively popular in print and had a radio show spanning 1943-55, but this B-movie is the first of only three feature films that were made. MGM clearly expected Walter Pidgeon to stick around for more of these.
