In terms of general entertainment, the actors, as expected, were stellar in their appointed characters; This movie brings to mind the foreign film "Crimson Red", in which the Femme Fatale abandonded her children at the doorstep of a church, in order to maintain the superficial affection of her con man boyfriend; As in Honeymoon Killers, the couple went on a killing spree, targeting lonely, single women, chosen at random via various "Lonely Hearts" ads, and personal columns in the newspapers. Unfortunately, the movies are based on a true story; Unfortunately, the scenario is all-too-real, even in this day and age; Women of low self-esteem, who generally assume their chances of positive social interaction with the opposite sex are little or nothing, tend to lend themselves to many predatory associations, often resulting in damaging (and dangerous) relationships, all of which revolve around the concept of "give-and-take"; The Female in the relationship will begin to minimalize everything previously precious to her; She dosen't mind giving her boyfriend money, or buying him expensive items, even if this means that she is unable to pay her bills, or provide for herself or her children; In "Honeymoon Killers", the woman was a supervising nurse; Overweight, caretaker for her elderly, invalid mother, there seemed a bitter acceptance to her lot in life; Once she met the ever-so-suave, handsome, slick-talking "Randy" (played by Tony LoBianco), the previous existence was trashed, in favor of accompanying this man, and turning to accept anything he wanted to do, in the guise of wanting to enhance both of their lives...Even if it meant withstanding the constant pain of portraying his "sister", to the doomed fiancees; The only thing that kept this woman going, was the knowledge that the poor "Bride-or Bride To Be", was soon going to be taken out of the picture, so that the couple could possibly share a painfully few moments of affection. Even this was tentative, as "Randy", a hotheaded, emotionally charged, seemengly impotent "man", oftentimes had his mind on the next proposed victim of his "Death-by-Classifieds". As expected, there was no good end for either party; However, in my opinion, the woman (now incarcerated), seemed to be somewhat content at the receipt of a letter from her also-incarcerated boyfriend; All women of low Self-Esteem need to see this movie...
