Director: Diego Luna Writers: Keir Pearson; Timothy J. Sexton Keywords: Drama, Organized Labor, Biography Biopic dramatizes the life and times of Mexican-American labor leader Cesar Chavez.
ABSTRACT "¡Si, se puede!" Three simple Spanish words -- commonly translated into English as "yes, we can!" -- became a rallying cry that catapulted Mexican-American labor leader Cesar Chavez to international fame during his 1972 twenty-four day fast in support of migrant workers' rights in Phoenix, Arizona, transforming him into a folk hero inspiring workers and union activists for generations to come. Cesar Chavez brings the titular icon's story to the big screen, following the man from humble upbringings through to his oft-challenging non-violent struggle for laborers' rights at home and abroad.
