Lady in the Lake (23-Jan-1947)
Director: Robert Montgomery Writer: Steve Fisher From novel: The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler Musical Score: David Snell Producer: George Haight Keywords: Mystery, Philip Marlowe, Film Noir Adrienne Fromsett hires pulp mystery writer and private dick Philip Marlowe to locate the estranged wife of her boss, Derace Kingsby. Told first-person through the eyes of Marlowe himself; we only see him in a scene where he looks at a mirror. Interesting film, but Robert Montgomery doesn't make an engaging Marlowe and both Audrey Totter and Jayne Meadows overact.
