ABSTRACT An ages-old hand-stitched doll with the number "9" scrawled on its back comes to life, self-aware, in a post-apocalyptic world decimated by a total war between man and machines. Discovering other self-aware dolls just like him with different numbers appearing on their backs, "9" takes up arms against the would-be machine overlords bent on destroying his kind and what remains of humanity, using information contained in a disk on his person as part of a quest to restore mankind to its place atop the world's perch.
