Battle Royale (16-Dec-2000)
Director: Kinji Fukasaku Writer: Kenta Fukasaku From novel: Battle Royale by Koushun Takami Keywords: Action/Adventure, Hacking, Explosions Dystopian thriller follows the struggles of a group of Japanese teenagers forced to take part in a gladiatorial deathmatch.
ABSTRACT Legislation enacted by a totalitarian dictatorship in charge of a dystopian near-future Japan establishes the annual "Battle Royale", a grisly match between teenagers that does not end until only one student remains alive amidst the carnage. Survivors' neck collars will explode if more than one is alive at the end. Tale reminiscent of Lord of the Flies and certainly inspiration for The Hunger Games (2012).
