Director: Henry Koster Writer: Daniel Taradash Based on a book by: Annemarie Selinko Keywords: Drama, Biography The story of Napoleon Bonaparte, from the viewpoint of Desirée Clary, a woman to whom he was formerly engaged but would later marry one of his generals, Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte. Napoleon would marry Josephine, and Desirée would marry Bernadotte. The King of Sweden, last of his line, bestowed the crown of his country on Bernadotte, who would then turn on Napoleon; Desirée thus became Queen Consort of Sweden. Received Oscar nominations for Best Set Decoration and Best Costume Design.
