REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 24-Apr-2006) Undoubtedly to this day The Delta
of Venus is my favorite movie. The plot targets one of Anais Nin's
short stories titled Elena. To understand This movie one must fully
delve into the mind of Anais Nin, in France, controversial female
writer well known in the 1940's for her quite perverse and erotic short
novels that delighted, horrified, and perhaps at some subconcious
level, enthralled the parisian audience. These short stories tackled
every possible sensitive issue such as incest and turned it sensual,
filthy but sensual. The Delta of Venus carries strong undercurrents of
the feelings of the time. It is the story of a writer that in her
search for complete fulfillment she penetrates a hidden world of opium
users sexual abandonment and in the end ecstacy. Beautifully written,
and incredibly shot on location the Delta of venus is truly a work of
art.
