The Story of Seabiscuit (11-Nov-1949)
Director: David Butler Writer: John Taintor Foote Music by: David Buttolph Producer: William Jacobs Keywords: Drama, Horse Racing Horse trainer Shawn O'Hara and his niece Margaret come to Milford Farms from Ireland; O'Hara can always spot a good horse and he sees great promise in Seabiscuit. Some friction with the head trainer at Milford has Shawn and Margaret leave for California to work with the Howard family. They buy Seabiscuit for $6000 and continue his training; Margaret finds a love interest with jockey Ted Knowles. Barry Fitzgerald is the best thing in this otherwise below-average Shirley Temple vehicle, a fictionalized account of the legendary racehorse.
