ABSTRACT Well-heeled aircraft engineer Kyle Pratt's husband dies under suspicious circumstances outside his Berlin apartment, sending the grieving woman and six-year old daughter Julia aboard a flight from the German metropolis to New York City to bury his body. Waking up from a lengthy nap during the transcontinental flight to find her daughter missing, a worried Kyle learns that there is no record of her child ever having boarded the flight, soon embarking on a quest to find answers tens of thousands of feet in the air as she begins to slip deeper and deeper into hysteria.
