Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (16-May-2002)
Director: George Lucas Writers: Jonathan Hales; George Lucas Keywords: Sci-Fi, Clones, Star Wars, Robots Second episode in the Star Wars canon -- fifth in the franchise -- centers on tensions in the galaxy predicated on an army of clones produced to help the Jedi fight their battles.
ABSTRACT First sequel to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999). Ten years following the events of Episode I, Padme Amidala -- now a senator hailing from her native planet -- survives an assassination attempt at the hands of a group of angry separatists led by Count Dooku, sparking a new round of turmoil in the fragile galaxy. Sensing weakness in the Jedi's attempts to guard against the unforeseen threat, Palpatine calls on Jango Fett and his army of clones to ostensibly supplement the Jedi's insufficient numbers, leading to unintended consequences further complicated by Anakin Skywalker's romance with Amidala possibly running afoul of the esteemed Jedi code.
