Witness to Murder (15-Apr-1954)

Director: Roy Rowland Writer: Chester Erskine Music Composed and Directed by: Herschel Burke Gilbert Producer: Chester Erskine Keywords: Drama, Film Noir, Murder Witness A professional woman believes she witnesses the strangulation murder of a female in the apartment across the way; police investigate but cannot corroborate her story. As a hysterical post-menopausal and unmarried woman in the 1950s, she is of course immediately thrown into a mental asylum. B-grade film noir with minor flaws, though Barbara Stanwyck truly shines. Compare Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954), released nine months later.
