ABSTRACT Wealthy teen Charlie Bartlett, son of a father behind bars for tax evasion and a depressed mother, enrolls in a public school after he is expelled from virtually every private school under the Sun for a litany of grievances and infractions. Putting his charm and intellect to the test, Charlie appoints himself the public school's resident psychiatrist, dispensing advice from the boys' bathroom as he climbs the campus social ladder and draws the ire of a number of conformist administrators.
