REVIEWS

Review by Constance (posted on 12-Jul-2010)

"Somebody Loves Me" is a wonderful demonstration of Betty Hutton's incredible talents--her comedy, her explosive songs, and then also her ballads which could bring tears to your eyes. So many great songs in this--"San Francisco Bay", "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans", "Rose Room", "Dixie Dreams", "Jealous","June", and of course, "Somebody Loves Me." This is a movie well worth watching, not because it's a great film, but because it provides so many great moments for Betty Hutton and if you watch it you will be simply amazed at her musical talents and her ability to tug at your heart strings. Simply put, Betty Hutton was one of Hollywood's brightest stars, one that studios used for great profits while providing her so little in the way of great roles, "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Greatest Show On Earth" being the exceptions.
