A Secret Service agent endeavors to investigate a United Nations interpreter claiming to have overheard an assassination plot against an African dictator.

ABSTRACT
United Nations interpreter Silvia Broome, a native of the backwater African republic of Matobo, overhears two men discussing a plot to assassinate Matobo dictator Edmond Zuwanie in an obscure dialect she is capable of understanding late one night. Reporting her findings to United Nations security the next day, Silvia places herself at the center of an explosive international political conspiracy, attracting the attention of a Secret Service agent eager to investigate her background as she works to get to the bottom of a dicey situation with her life possibly hanging in the balance.
