Film adaptation of the 1974 television series of the same name follows a scientist's journey through a vortex and into a prehistoric alternate universe.

ABSTRACT
Embattled paleontologist Rick Marshall slaves away at grunt work near the La Brea Tar Pits, stuck there ever since an interview with Matt Lauer concerning his pseudoscientific theories about time warps went viral on the Internet and ruined his once up-and-coming career. Doctoral candidate Holly Cantrell remains inspired by the good scientist's work, however, soon inviting him and gift shop owner Will Stanton along on a seemingly-mundane expedition that transforms into an out-of-this-world prehistoric experience after the trio inadvertently travel through a time-bending vortex located inside an area cave.
