Into the Wild (1-Sep-2007)
Director: Sean Penn Writer: Sean Penn Based on a book by: Jon Krakauer Keywords: Outdoor Adventure, Road Trip, Alaska A gifted young man with a promising future leaves everything behind for a doomed Alaskan excursion.
ABSTRACT Well-off college graduate and athlete Christopher McCandless elects to leave his desirable existence -- and equally-desirable future prospects -- behind upon exiting Emory University with high honors in favor of embarking on a one-man journey to Alaska to reinvent himself and find renewed purpose in his life, crossing paths with a panoply of unforgettable characters on his way to a doomed spell living in wilderness just north of the Denali National Park and Preserve. Inspired by true events as detailed in the 1996 Jon Krakauer book of the same name with a moderate amount of artistic license taken, Into the Wild was a smash success with critics and served, for better or for worse, to catapult indie darlings Emile Hirsch and Kristen Stewart into the mainstream.
