REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 9-Aug-2006) For those of u who love 50'z
style B rated horror/sci-fiction, this film will not dissapoint u. This
film is one of my favorite. It is handed to us from the same production
crew from American International for AMUCUS productions, however this
is the only film by this production crew in a series of really neat
productions which were made in the early or mid 1970'z which was not
from the AMUCUS. AMUCUS produced "The Land That Time Forgot" "At The
Earth's Core" & "The People That Time Forgot. Each film starred
Doug McClure as the hero, (except in the last film from Amucus, McClure
only had a short part at the end of "The People That Time Forgot")
Warlords of Atlantis is AWESOME! This is a feel good, fast paced action
adventure film that moves pretty fast and keeps the action going almost
from the beginning. When watching the film u get that Matinee feeling
one would have during a Saturday afternoon at a cinema. the films
production values were close to "At The Earth's Core" which I believe
to be the 2 best films from this production crew. The creature effects
r real good and r mastered by Roger Dicken. He went to do the creature
effects in Alien. The sets r very kewl although most r Matte paintings
for the land effects, but it all pulls together. The plotline involves
a crew in a diving bell having the cable "torn" from the bell, which
becomes swept into a cavern by a Kracken and into an undersea current
which washes the bell into an undersea prehistoric land ruled by Alien
beings in a far advanced land. The end sequence toward escape is real
neat. If u have watched "The People That Time Forgot", u will notice a
resemblence to the explosive volcanic "chase" that takes place for the
last 1/2 hour of that film. However this time the Atlanteans are in
control as the set off some huge tidal explosions as the heros attempt
escape. I would highly recomend this film for ne sci-fi buff who loves
a movie that doesnt have all of this fake computer graphic non sense
which is in every film today. This one as well as the other 3 films are
awesome for the time they were filmed.
