The Dish (15-Sep-2000)
Director: Rob Sitch Writer: (many writers) Keywords: Drama, Space Exploration An Australian satellite dish located in the middle of a rural sheep farm plays an unlikely role in humanity's first Moon landing.
ABSTRACT The United States' NASA space agency, desiring a network of satellites placed around the Earth in the days leading up to their historic July 20, 1969 Moon landing, contracted a team of Australian technicians to build a dish in their neck of the South Pacific. The Australians construct their dish in a sheep farm in the middle of nowhere, causing concern within NASA's camp as a comical cultural gap opens between the delightfully off-kilter island nation and America.
