REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 20-Jan-2007) I just watched this film tonight and I have to say it wasn't bad. It has the feel of a western, except that the setting is in the northwest and there are less guns. The plot centers around a father (Joe) who is a cop and his son (Pete) and the father's nephew (Arnie?), who hates him. The young men, however, are friends. Pete stays conflicted because he feels he has to support his father even though he disapproves of many of his actions. It was almost nostalgic to watch fights that involved fists and not guns. The female characters in the story were a bit one-dimensional for my tastes, but the film was made in 1951, so allowances must be made. Probably the best thing about the film is the cinematography. It's reminiscent of John Ford's sweeping vistas--but much more scenic. Overall it was an okay movie. I wouldn't pay to see it, but if you like old movies and there's nothing else on, this would fit the bill. Incidentally, this is Peter Graves' first film and he looks like a young Greek god.
