Senescent Scottish humorist famed in Britain for his songs, stories, and poems, performed with or without harmonium accompaniment. A favorite on the John Peel show on the BBC, first performing on that program on 7 May 1969 and eventually totalling 21 appearances. Cutler found an avid fan in John Lennon, who persuaded him to take the role of Buster Bloodvessel in the Beatles vehicle Magical Mystery Tour (1967). Beatles producer George Martin produced his album Ludo (1967), released as the Ivor Cutler Trio. He later appeared on the 1975 Robert Wyatt album Rock Bottom. Cutler published numerous books of poetry, stories, and books for children. Sadly, volume one of Life in a Scotch Sitting Room does not exist. Cutler retired from performing a year before his death.
