Brian Clough AKA Brian Howard Clough Born: 21-Mar-1935 Birthplace: Teesside, Middlesbrough, England Died: 20-Sep-2004 Location of death: Derby, England [1] Cause of death: Cancer - Stomach
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Soccer Nationality: England Executive summary: Renowned British soccer manager As player, Clough scored 251 goals in 274 matches he played, helping to win two English cups. He became a manager in 1965 at Hartlepool, switching to Derby County two years later.
As manager, Clough led Nottingham Forest to win the European championships in 1979 and 1980. It is incredibly difficult to do that with a provincial team (a feat probably impossible today, considering the money that is now dominant in the game), and he is considered one of the greatest soccer coaches in British history.
Clough was a heavy drinker, and received a liver transplant in January 2003.
