The first professional athlete to "come out of the closet" in a 1975 article written by reporter Lynn Rosellini, and with his best-selling 1977 autobiography The Dave Kopay Story. After this was published he says he found it very difficult to obtain any kind of work coaching in the NFL, but it should be noted that this type of work is difficult to obtain in general.
