In the 1930s and 1940s, Vic Mizzy wrote a number of hit songs, including My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time (a Doris Day hit in 1945), the novelty tune With a Hey and a Hi and a Ho-Ho-Ho (often sung by Louis Prima), No Bout Adout It, and a number of others. But it is for his television themes that he is most known. His music for The Addams Family (1964-66), with snapping fingers and Mizzy's own triple-dubbed voice, is one of the most recognizable pieces of music ever created for the medium. One year later, he wrote the theme to Green Acres (1965-70), also in perpetual reruns. As Mizzy had the foresight to retain ownership over the Addams Family theme, he received considerable royalties for the remainder of his life. Additional work includes a number of movie scores, including five Don Knotts films. Mizzy died in Los Angeles at age 93.
