During this time he also served as a mentor for future hip-hop sensation Kanye West -- allowing the then-unknown rapper (who was still attending high school) to sit in on sessions at his studio, and encouraging him in the technique of using samples from old soul records as the basis for new tracks. In the years since, NO I.D. has contributed to tracks by many prominent hip-hop artists: DMX, The Madd Rapper, G-Unit, Scarface and Toni Braxton amongst them. In 1997 he released his first full-length record as a performer, Accept Your Own And Be Yourself. NO I.D.
