Gadahn is the first US treason indictment in over 50 years, the last being a Japanese-American who mistreated POW's. Treason is the only crime specifically defined in the US Constitution, as "levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." Gadahn has appeared in several Al Qaeda videos, threatening American streets will "run red with blood." A $1M reward was offered for his capture. [1] Born into a Protestant family, Adam converted to Islam at age seventeen. His paternal grandfather (surname "Pearlman") was Jewish. The name "Gadahn" is a variant of the Biblical "Gideon", a name adopted by his parents. Describing his father Phillip, Adam wrote "My father was raised agnostic or atheist, but he became a believer in One God when he picked up a Bible left on the beach."
