Tatum O'Neal AKA Tatum Beatrice O'Neal Born: 5-Nov-1963 Birthplace: Los Angeles, CA
Gender: Female Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Paper Moon Tatum O'Neal was a movie star in her childhood and adolescent years, winning an Oscar at the age of ten in her first role, as the smart-talking possible-daughter of a two-bit con-man played by her father, Ryan O'Neal. She played the pitching ace in the original Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau, and starred in the old-time movie myth Nickelodeon with Burt Reynolds, and Little Darlings, a summer camp race with Kristy McNichol to see which girl would lose her virginity first. At 16 she showed her breasts to Richard Burton in Circle of Two, and in classic Hollywood fashion she was soon swept away in rumors of alcohol, drugs, and depression.
In her early 20s she left show business to marry tennis star John McEnroe, and eight years and three children later they divorced. She has resumed her acting career to little acclaim, most notably with a starring role in The Scoundrel's Wife with Tim Curry, a recurring role on Rescue Me with Denis Leary, a few weeks of fox trotting on Dancing with the Stars, and supporting roles in a few films that have not been widely released.
She made waves with her 2004 autobiography, A Paper Life, portraying her early years as an unremitting hell. In the book, she writes that her father beat her after she won her Oscar, Melanie Griffith dragged her into an orgy when she was 12, she was molested by her father's drug dealer, she became addicted to cocaine and heroin, attempted suicide, and that McEnroe beat her and treated her almost as a slave. When she and Michael Jackson wanted to go to the premiere of The Wiz, her agency told her "You can't go to a premiere with a nigger" -- never mind that she was 14 and he was 20.
