Chushiro Hayashi Born: 25-Jul-1920 Birthplace: Kyoto, Japan Died: 28-Feb-2010 Location of death: Kyoto, Japan Cause of death: Pneumonia
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: Asian Occupation: Astronomer, Physicist Nationality: Japan Executive summary: Big Bang astrophysicist Astrophysicist Chushiro Hayashi studied under Hideki Yukawa, and developed theories to explain several types of astronomical phenomena. He discovered what is now called the Hayashi track (the pattern followed by pre-main-sequence stars) and the Hayashi limit (the maximum radius for a star of a given mass). He showed that electron-positron pair production must be taken into account in considering the early neutron-proton ratio in the aftermath of the Big Bang, and he is also known for his advanced models showing star formation, stellar evolution, and pre-main sequence evolution. University: BS, University of Tokyo (1942) University: PhD, Kyoto University (1954) Teacher: Astrophysics, Osaka Prefecture University Teacher: Astrophysics, Kyoto University (1945-54) Professor: Astrophysics, Kyoto University (1954-84)
