Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Government Nationality: United States Executive summary: Gunfight at the O.K. Corral Wyatt Earp was a gambler, gold miner, and sometimes lawman who settled with his wife and brothers in Tombstone, Arizona in 1878. His brother Virgil Earp was the marshal, and when Ike Clanton's gang of ruffians began making trouble, Wyatt and Morgan Earp were deputized, and along with Wyatt's friend Doc Holliday they engaged Clanton's gang in the infamous gunfight at the town's O.K. Corral, on 26 October 1881. In the aftermath, Holliday and the Earp brothers were charged with the murders of Clanton's brother Billy Clanton and two of the gang's henchmen, Frank and Tom McLaury, but the judge -- purportedly a relative of the Earps -- found their actions to be reasonable and justified. The gunfight and trial were over quickly, but the bloodshed continued, as survivors of friends of Clanton's gang soon ambushed Virgil Earp, leaving him crippled, and Morgan Earp was shot and killed while playing billiards. After that, Wyatt Earp, accompanied by Holliday and a few more Earp brothers, began their "vigilante ride", tracking and killing four men, one at a time, that they deemed responsible.
