For his forty-year career he was honored by a House of Commons resolution in 1999, and awarded an OBE at the turn of 2012. But later that year saw him arrested for rape as well as sexual indecency with a series of young girls between the ages of 9 and 16. His predicament runs parallel to the tarnishing of other formerly beloved and now elderly British figures including Jimmy Savile and Australian transplant Rolf Harris. On 16 April 2013 he plead guilty to 14 of the aforementioned counts against him.
