Executive summary: Silicon Valley real estate developer Santa Clara Valley real estate partner with Dick Peery, investing in the 1960s, a time when the land was still farms and orchards. At one time they jointly owned 10 to 12M square feet of office space in the valley. In April 2006, the firm sold 119 buildings for $1.1B to a real estate arm of Deutsche Bank. Also in 2006, Arrillaga donated $100M to Stanford University, the most by any individual. In addition he build a $22M sports facility ten years prior, and established the Arrillaga Family Fund, a sports endowment for the university. Forbes estimates Arrillaga's fortune at $1B (2005).
