Initially, Richardson declined treatment from paramedics on the scene, but a persistent headache saw her check into a hospital at Ste. Agathe, Quebec. She was transferred first to a hospital in Montreal, and then to Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She remained there until removal from life support, after which she died.
