Controversially, on 10 May 2017, he and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held an unprecedented meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, to which American press was not invited but the state TASS news agency sent a photographer. Those photos were posted to a Russian Twitter account, cascading into a public relations disaster for the Trump Administration.
