After that announcement, he was instead selected in the draft's 7th and final round by the St. Louis Rams, and cut from the roster during pre-season. He then spent several weeks working out with the non-roster practice squad for the Dallas Cowboys before being cut again, and briefly played with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
