Mahmoud Ahmad Born: ? Birthplace: Pakistan
Gender: Male Religion: Muslim Race or Ethnicity: Asian/Indian Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Spy Nationality: Pakistan Executive summary: Pakistani Intelligence chief gave Atta $100k As Chief of the Pakistani intelligence service, the ISI, Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad ordered that $100,000 be placed into the account of September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta. Ahmad Umar Sheikh (b. 1936 in Britain) performed the actual wire of the money from Dubai to Atta's Florida bank account, proven with India's assistance to the FBI in establishing the details. Oddly, this fact is rarely reported in the media. U.S. President George W. Bush personally ordered that Mahmoud not be investigated, because of his obvious implications to the Pakistani government's involvement in the 9/11 attacks. In fact, there is speculation, not entirely unwarranted, that the money that was deposited originated with the United States government: there is a long history of channeling funds into the Pakistani intelligence services and into regions controlled by the Taliban. Mahmoud was suspended on 8 October 2001, and "retired" (i.e., dismissed) soon thereafter.
