Upon return to America, she became Headmistress of the Bryn Mawr Preparatory School for Girls, 1896 until 1922. A series of important schoolbooks followed during this time, most importantly The Greek Way and its companion, The Roman Way, as well as the highly regarded Mythology. Retired, at the age of ninety she travelled to Athens and was made an honorary citizen.
