Sebastián Piñera is the President of Chile, and is among the nation's wealthiest people, estimated to be worth more than a billion American dollars. He was the principal owner of the Chilevisión nationwide TV station and an airline, LAN Chile, though these properties are in a trust while he is head of state. An economist, businessperson, and former Senator, his father was a Chilean diplomat who served as ambassador to Belgium and, later, the United Nations.
