Wil Wheaton AKA Richard William Wheaton III Born: 29-Jul-1972 Birthplace: Burbank, CA
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: TNG Wil Wheaton became famous as one of the adolescents at the center of Rob Reiner's Stand By Me (1986). The following year he was cast on Star Trek: The Next Generation; his character, the young ensign Wesley Crusher, was poorly conceived and written, but Wheaton did as well as possible with the role. He was written off the show in 1990, midway through the fourth of its seven seasons. He returned for several later episodes, and had a brief cameo in the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis.
Wheaton continues to work as an actor, often doing voice work for cartoons and video games. He began a website in 2000, later adding a blog. He is involved in Acme Comedy Theatre as both a writer and performer. He has written two books, Dancing Barefoot and Just a Geek, and writes a column on obscure video games for The Onion.
He is politically vocal and active; and says he has received hate mail due to views expressed on his blog. He also volunteered in efforts to stave off anti-gay marriage legislation. In defining himself, he says, "I am politically active and aware. I passionately believe in progressive causes, freedom from religion and government intrusion, and the right to privacy -- on-line and in your home."
