In 2001, Peter Nordstrom's ex-girlfriend for many years, Stacy Pinney, filed a lawsuit against Peter and the company alleging repeated sexual harassment. She then sued a Seattle weekly newspaper, The Stranger, after it published an article by Eli Sanders in October 2002, "Uncomfortable Suit: Nordstrom Challenges Sexual Harassment Allegations." The article details their relationship as well as Nordstrom's habit of dating company employees.
