Al Jardine AKA Alan Charles Jardine Born: 3-Sep-1942 Birthplace: Lima, OH
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Musician Nationality: United States Executive summary: Beach Boy Al Jardine was a founding Beach Boy, the only original member of the band who was not related by blood to the Wilson brothers (Brian, Carl, and Dennis) and their cousin, Mike Love. Jardine went to high school with Brian Wilson, and played bass on the band's first moderate hit, "Surfin'", in 1961. He quit shortly thereafter, but returned to the band in 1963. He sang lead vocals on "Help Me, Rhonda" and "Then I Kissed Her", and his first wife, Lynda, was the inspiration for Jardine's song "Lady Lynda". He left the band again after the 1998 death of Carl Wilson, and he was later sued by ex-bandmates Love and Carl Wilson's estate, for touring with a different band under the name Beach Boys Family and Friends. After settling the lawsuit, Jardine's touring group, which included Jardine's two eldest sons and Carnie and Wendy Wilson, daughters of Brian Wilson, was renamed Al Jardine’s Family and Friends Beach Band.
