Edward Furlong AKA Edward Walter Furlong Born: 2-Aug-1977 Birthplace: Glendale, CA
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Terminator 2 and Pecker It is the classic Hollywood story: Edward Furlong was a 12-year-old boy hanging out at the Pasadena Boys & Girls Club, when he was "discovered" by a casting director, who asked him to audition. The role was the young "John Conner" in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It was Furlong's first professional role, and his first time acting at all.
Furlong has never met his father, and does not know who he was. He briefly had a stepfather, who left when Furlong was very young. An aunt and uncle felt Furlong was too much responsibility for his mother to handle, sued for custody, and fostered Furlong for about three years, including the time when he was making Terminator 2. After the film was released Furlong sued for his own emancipation, and he's been on his own since he was 14. He never completed high school. At 15, Furlong took up with Jacqueline Domac, then 29, his on-set tutor. She later became his manager, and then his fiancée. In May 1999, she sued Furlong, claiming he'd beaten her and withheld earned commissions. As of 2003, Ms. Domac was teaching sex education at Venice High School in Los Angeles.
After T2, Furlong performed in a string of little-seen indie movies, then landed in John Waters' Pecker, American History X, the startling meditation on American bigotry, and Detroit Rock City, an innovative teen comedy. In 2001's Animal Factory, Furlong played the naïve newcomer at the state penitentiary, where only another prisoner's protection (the grizzled Willem Dafoe) keeps Furlong from being raped.
As an actor, Furlong's work has earned reviews ranging from generally positive to out-and-out raves. His personal life, however, seems to be a mess. He has been arrested for drunk driving at least twice, and gone through rehab at least twice. Reports of his personal life often include lines like "woke up in a pool of his own vomit". Furlong denies having a cocaine or heroin problem. Furlong was dropped from 2003's Terminator 3 when it became clear to the movie's producers that they'd have to cross their fingers every morning, hoping he'd be sober or show up at all. He was similarly dumped from Firecracker and Max and Grace.
He also has had some success as a singer, with a hit single and album called Hold on Tight, sold only in Japan.
