Matt Stone AKA Matthew Richard Stone
Born: 26-May-1971 Birthplace: Houston, TX
Gender: Male Religion: Agnostic [1] Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Cartoonist Party Affiliation: See Note [2] Nationality: United States Executive summary: South Park Born in Texas and raised in Colorado, Stone attended Heritage High School in Littleton, where Columbine High was a cross-town rival. He talked about his high school memories in Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine. Trey Parker and Stone met while both were attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. They invented Stan, Cartman, Kyle and Kenny for a 1995 cartoon Christmas card called The Spirit of Christmas, which featured a fight between Jesus Christ and Santa Claus. The video led to an offer from Comedy Central, to create South Park. On the show, Stone primarily voices Kyle Broslofski and Kenny McCormick. The character of Kyle is allegedly based on Stone. Parker does Stan Marsh and Eric Cartman.
Stone was at one time a registered Republican, but rarely talks about politics. "I hate conservatives but I really fucking hate liberals." Asked to comment on abortion, Stone once said, "Love it! Looooooove it! It goes nice with a little red wine sauce." [1] NPR interview, Fresh Air from WHYY, 14 October 2004: "I'm Jewish simply because... my mom is Jewish... but... I grew up completely secular and completely agnostic... I am the worst Jew in the world. I know nothing about the religion. I'm completely agnostic (my poor mother)."
[2] At one time a registered Republican, but apparently no longer. See John Tierney, "South Park Refugees", The New York Times, 29 August 2006. Both South Park creators are often cited as being Libertarian but it has never been clear if this meant the Libertarian Party or libertarian ideology. "Stone and Parker said that if you had to put a label on them, they were libertarian -- and that didn't mean Republican to this crowd."
