Barry Bonds AKA Barry Lamar Bonds Born: 24-Jul-1964 Birthplace: Riverside, CA
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: Black Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Baseball Nationality: United States Executive summary: Holds all-time home run record San Francisco Giants, hit 73 homers in a single season. National League MVP in 1990, 1992, 1993, 2001 and 2002. In 2007, Mike Bacsik of the Washington Nationals pitched Bonds his 756th home run, beating Hank Aaron's all-time record which Aaron held for 33 years.
His personal trainer was indicted for trafficking in steroids in 2004. Couple his "73 home run season" with the fact that very few players have ever hit as many as 50 home runs in a year, and it's very easy to come to an unpleasant conclusion. From 2000-03, Bonds tested positive for three types of steroids, but in 2003 he told a federal grand jury he had never knowingly used steroids. For this testimony, he was convicted of obstruction of justice in 2011, but the jury deadlocked on the accompanying charge of perjury. The obstruction conviction was overturned on appeal in 2015.
