Born in Springfield, moved to Darien and then New York City. Played young HIV+ girl Jennie in Kids, later starred in The Last Days of Disco. Also in Boys Don't Cry, for which she received an Oscar nomination. She performed fellatio on camera for co-star and director Vincent Gallo in Brown Bunny, and was punished by prudish critics with bad reviews and dropped as a client by the William Morris Agency when the film was (barely) released.
[1] Ryan D'Agostino, "Chloë Sevigny: What I've Learned", Esquire, 8 January 2009: "The umlaut isn't on my birth certificate. I had this book as a child called Chloë and Maude, and there was an umlaut on the e, and I said, I want that! It's a little flair. Just to confuse people even more. People always come up to me and say, Oh, you're Chloë Se-VIG-ny, right? Sevigny. Number seven, letter e."
