We were all with Carmine Perscio, the powerful Colombo capo who had a lot of influence in the Family even though he was in prison. The Snake was one guy I'd never want to mess with. He made headlines way back in 1950 when he was seventeen years old and was arrested for killing a guy in a street gang fight. He was a made guy in the Profaci Family before he turned twenty-five. During the civil war, the Gallos trapped him in a can't-miss crossfire. Persico was shot five or six times. In the ambulance on the way to the hospital, he woke up and spit out a bullet that had got lodged in his teeth.[1]
