Her work was used prominently in the Stanley Kubrick films A Clockwork Orange (1971), The Shining (1980), as well as Disney's TRON (1982). Studied under Vladimir Ussachevsky at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center. [1] Carlos began hormone treatments in 1967 and completed her transition in 1972. She continued to release music as Walter Carlos until 1975 and concealed her transition in public appearances, until her official coming-out in an interview published in the May 1979 issue of Playboy.
