Corral Morgan Earp was one of the "Fightin' Earps", brother of Wyatt and Virgil Earp, and served as deputy sheriff in Dodge City and town marshal in Butte, Montana, before coming to Tombstone, Arizona. He was deputized in late September 1881 and shot through the shoulder in the gunfight against the Clanton and McLaury brothers at the O.K. Corral on 26 October 1881. He recovered from his wound, but on 18 March 1882 he was shot in the back and killed, presumably in vengeance for the O.K. Corral deaths of Billy Clanton and Frank and Tom McLaury. His killer was never caught or identified.
