Michael Isikoff Born: c. 1952
Gender: Male Religion: Jewish Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Journalist Nationality: United States Executive summary: Reporter who broke Lewinsky story When reporter Michael Isikoff brought the Paula Jones sexual harassment case to his editors at the Washington Post, they refused to run the story. He quit and joined Newsweek, where he broke the Monica Lewinsky story in January 1998. After the maelstrom settled, Isikoff wrote a book about his pursuit of the Lewinsky story, called Uncovering Clinton: A Reporter's Story. According to one review: "Isikoff gives more attention to the supposedly distinguishing characteristics of the presidential penis than to a serious examination of Starr's many probes."
In 2004 Isikoff broke the story that the Bush administration was looking into strategies to postpone the Presidential election, in the event of terrorist attacks on or near Election Day. In a very blatant lie to the press, Condoleezza Rice denied that any such plan existed, stating that "no one is thinking of postponing the elections." Note that it is the states themselves, not the Federal government, with jurisdiction over elections.
Left Newsweek for NBC News in 2010.
